Keys Please!
Three Generations of Piano Stories

Pianist-composers Carei Thomas, Todd Harper and Paul Cantrell started Keys Please in 2002, and this mid-winter tradition has become a staple of the Twin Cities new music calendar. The annual concert takes on musics of diverse genres for an evening of sonic surprise, wonder and beauty. You will hear poemmetry, “weather permitting,” compositions old and new, and most of all the pleasure of musical friendship shared!

This year's special guest is flutist Julie Johnson, a shape-shifting musician with a flagrant disregard for all the rules about what flutes are supposed to do. She forges classical, American and international folk music, jazz, loop pedals and beatboxing into a flute sound that is exciting, daring, and entirely her own.

But wait! There’s more! Our program features a collaboration between Julie and dancer / choreographer Tamara Ober, projected right onto Julie as she plays.

We hope to see you there!
